Ok. I was on vacation for a little bit kids, but I’m back with avengeance. 1st movie out of the shoot comes to us from Rosie in CT. Let me start by saying that it was not that funny but it was still entertaining. Rainn Wilson, who will forever be Dwight Schrute from the office to me, tries really hard to make this movie rock. It feels like the script and dialogue of the other characters seem to be written by a committee and that kind of brings the movie down a little bit. Christina Applegate brings the heat here and it was cool to see a pre Hangover Bradley Cooper as the wild guitarist in the rival band. The movie definitely does not suck but it’s not great either. Just ok. Thanks for the recommendation Rosie from CT and please keep just the good ones coming. The Mobile Movie Man has spoken!!
Ok. Back to back Bobby the Wine recommendations here. I had zero interest in seeing this movie from the get go, but it was Bobby the Wine’s recommendation that made me give it a second look. The Mobile Movie Man is not a fan of musicals at all. Evita, Chicago, Les Miz – you can have them all. This is like a hybrid of those films. Half musical, and half speaking traditional movie. I don’t get what all of the hype about this movie was at all. Charlize Theron and Amy Adams were absolutely robbed by the academy here. This is a prime example of the liberals at their political worst on this one. Emma Stone, who I like, can barely sing, and is an ok dancer, is the one bright spot of the movie. Ryan Gosling can’t sing for his life, and to compare his dancing scene on the hill tops of LA to Gene Kelly is downright insulting. They both should not be allowed near a microphone ever again. The ending was a little lame, and if this is real life then these two deserved each other. This is supposed to represent Southern California, it’s no wonder why Northern California wants to secede from the state after watching this. Bobby the Wine, I’m going to give you a mulligan on this one because you are better than this. Thanks for the recommendation but going forward please no more show tunes. This is just Ok for me. First off I would like to welcome Grecco from the south shore of God’s country Long Island to the world of followers. Thanks for checking me out and please drop me some movie recommendations at either either firstname.lastname@example.org or at https://twitter.com/Mobilemovieman Now as a 1st recommendation out of the gate I feel as though you can do much better than this. This is just an ok “rock”umentary for me. This guy was no doubt good at his job, schmoozing and making his clients tons of cash. There are also some entertaining stories along the way. I just walked away having a hard time with this movie because he was portrayed as a man without flaws. The story really goes nowhere and by the end of the movie when you are supposed to feel sorry for him because he is all alone, I could really care less. It was really irritating when he was talking about Teddy Pendergrass and Karma. What a horrible, and pompous thing to imply that Teddy was somehow responsible to blame for his accident because he avoided a concert? I think he is disillusioned with the idea of fame and he is still searching for true happiness. I hope he finds it before he dies. Grecco, I do appreciate the recommendation, but please only good ones going forward. The Mobile Movie Man has spoken.
Ok. Now this comes to us from Denny in Jersey City and he is playing to my strengths with this recommendation. The Mobile Movie Man loves EDM and was a DJ in another life. This is a documentary about the group Swedish House Mafia, and there rise to fame. After they achieve the pinnacle in their craft, they decide to go on a world arena tour and before then announce the tour that also announce they were breaking when it’s over. Now it’s cool to see all of the pressure they face trying to duplicate the success of winning a Grammy, but even I thought it was too long and a little boring. I’m their target audience and I checked my watch several times. Some of the footage is mind blowing, but this could have been done in 30 minutes. I think it’s crazy to sell out Madison Square Garden for some guys that basically spin records, but that is what these guys did. Bottom line is this was ok, but 90% of my followers will not like this one, so buyer beware. Denny thank you for taking the time to make a recommendation, and please keep them coming.
God Awful. I’m scratching my head here guys. This comes from Rosie in CT and I went in on blind faith for a movie I never heard of and I can’t say I’ll do that again. Mamma Mia was a huge success where Meryl Streep showed off her singing ability. This time around when it’s all on her shoulders….not so much. Meryl Streep is a talented actress no doubt, but this could go down as the worst movie I’ve ever seen her in. This film is considered a comedy??? That is false advertising. The only thing funny about the movie is her hairstyle. The troubled daughter in the movie is Streep’s real life daughter so I can see why she would attach her name to a piece of garbage like this in the first place but she should take the money she earned here and use that to take some acting lessons. The one thing I will say about the movie is it shows the downside of chasing your dream when it doesn’t work out, but as far as I’m concerned in life par is not so bad. Don’t waste your time with this one kids as everyone involved should be embarrassed for themselves, including the artists that allowed Streep to cover their songs. You are better than this Rosie!!!!! The Mobile Movie Man has spoken. I want to take a second to wish you all a happy Thanks Giving and I will be back at it cranking out the reviews you all love after I get back from a short break off.
Good. The streak FINALLY comes to an end compliments of The Worm. Thank you very much for this little flying under the radar gem. First off I would like to welcome CFY Movie News and Reviews to the world of followers. Thanks for checking me out and please drop me some movie recommendations at either email@example.com or at https://twitter.com/Mobilemovieman There are a bunch of unbelievable circumstances that you have to swallow with this movie but just go with it. All in all the movie just works and leaves you with a positive feeling when the credits roll. The movie is about a bunch of kids that start a garage band to win the heart of a smoking hot older chick and what is the real standout of the movie was the music. The kids build off some very popular 80’s alternative songs and make their own creations a little more believable. The songs are catchy, and the Mobile Movie Man loves music related movies and who really doesn’t love the 80’s??? I found myself smiling through most of it. The movie takes place in Dublin Ireland so the accents are a little tough to understand at some points but I grew up with a bunch of Donks so it was no problem for me. You might want to turn on the subtitles for certain points in the movie. The only depressing thing in the movie is how some of the people live over there. Makes me appreciate living in God’s Country Long Island even more. Thanks for the solid recommendation that would have definitely slipped through the cracks for me Worm, and please keep them coming!!!
Fair at Best. I’m not sure how this made its way into my queue. The characters in the movie are likable, and the story is ok. The problem with the movie is it feels like its three hours long even though it’s only 85 minutes long. The movie is about an aspiring musician, and every song is played at full length. I think the movie might have been a little better as a romantic comedy without any of the music. The movie also has THICK Irish accents. I’m pretty good at understanding what the hell these off the boat donkeys say as I grew up with a ton of them but even I had to watch the movie with subtitles just so I fully understood everything. The majority of the movie was slow and boring. I watched the whole movie hoping for something to happen, and maybe pick up the pace a little but that never happened. It really was a waste of time. Once? Not even Once. The Mobile Movie Man has spoken!!
