Good. Some people might say this movie has a worn out plot that we have seen a million times before. I’m a fan of westerns, and I think it’s more of a traditional western plot and you should not be surprised with all of the cliché scenes and plot twists. It does have a genuine plot twist at the end but a seasoned veteran like myself saw it coming from a mile away. I thought the father son duo of Kiefer and Donald Sutherland did a solid job. There are quite a few stars here. The movie is not great but it’s not god awful either. It’s definitely not a waste of time, because you can do way worse than this movie that is a solid 3.5 out of 5 and if you are a fan of western movies then you will not regret watching this one. The Mobile Movie Man has spoken!!
God Awful. It was only a matter of time folks before I hated something. This run was going on for far too long and had to come to an end. The Mobile Movie Man really likes westerns, but this story has been done over and over again about a million times and out of those million this is the absolute worst. Ethan Hawke’s performance is fair at best and the rest of the cast sucked, except for Abby the dog. The dog was very good. John Travolta as the marshal was awful and the guy who played his son should get out of the acting game or kill himself. Either one, I just don’t want to see him ever again. This is easily the worst movie I’ve seen this year lol that’s not saying much but it’s in the top for worst movie last year too!!! I stuck with this movie so you don’t have to so do yourself a favor and avoid this movie at all costs and you’ll thank me later. The Mobile Movie Man has spoken!!!
Good. First off I want to welcome Ellisnelson to the world of followers. Thanks for checking me out and please send me some at either firstname.lastname@example.org or at https://twitter.com/Mobilemovieman Now this one comes to us from J.Dough in Port Washington…the streak is alive folks!!! Let’s keep this thing going!!!! Now I didn’t know this was a remake, and I hate these people out there that expect the original when they go into a remake. This was an entertaining western movie. Plain and simple. I will tell you that the liberals in liberal land had to make this the most politically correct western I’ve ever seen by the way. The lead was a black cowboy, then in his crew he had a Hispanic, and Asian, and a Native American guy. Now I told you I didn’t see the original but I’ll bet my life without checking that the original movie didn’t have that!!!! The only thing this movie was missing was the baker and the candle stick maker. That being said, just sit back, grab some popcorn and enjoy this this good western movie. Solid performances all around and you don’t really know what is going to happen till the very end. I have to tell you it feels good to write some consecutive good reviews. When the movie was over I said to myself “that was entertaining” I’m a little biased because I’m a huge Denzel fan, but even if you are not you will like this movie. Especially if you are a fan of westerns. Thanks for the solid recommendation J.Dough and please keep them coming!!!
Very good. Mr.Matt strikes oil with this recommendation!!! One of the best movies I’ve seen this year. This is a combination of No Country for Old Men and Heat….I loved both movies. There is one scene in particular at the end of the movie that is so reminiscent of Heat. I don’t want to give away anything but I really enjoyed this one. Top shelf performances by Jeff bridges, Ben Foster and I was most impressed with Chris Pine showing he’s a little more than just a good looking dude. Depending on what type of movie you like, you’ll have to be a little patience through the beginning of the movie but once it picks up you will be handsomely rewarded hand over fist. The last third of the movie is just as good as film making gets. Would I have liked a different ending??? I’m not going to be overly critical here. There are so many terrible movies out there that it’s refreshing when you see something fresh and new that is really enjoyable. I’m not going to give you any of the plot because I don’t want to ruin it for you. This is a must see as it could be the best movie I’ve seen this year. Thanks again Mr.Matt for possibly the best recommendation of the year. Please keep only the good ones coming!!!
Good. Now this one comes to us from Mr.Matt and his resume speaks for it’s self wit the Mobile Movie Man. This movie is a little slow but it reminded me of early type of Quentin Tarantino type movie like From Dusk till Dawn. It’s a film that starts out in one direction then ends up in the total polar opposite direction. I could not help but think that this was a dry run for Kurt Russell’s part in Tarantino’s western The Hateful Eight. This is not your typical western storyline that I was expecting going in. This is not a fast paced movie but it does not take long to get started. The further it goes the more disturbing this movie is to watch. So if you are squeamish you best tread lightly with this one. It’s nice to see a movie with no CGI graphics for a change. Just an authentic looking time period piece with a good cast. This is just a solid old school western drama with a twist. The Mobile Movie Man is not a huge western guy but I have liked quite a few over the years. Tombstone, 3:10 to Yuma, and Young Guns to name a few. This movie will not be for everyone out there but If you like gory, Tanantino type flicks like me then you will like this one too. Thanks again for the solid recommendation Mr.Matt because there is no doubt this one would have slipped through the cracks for me. Job well done and please keep the good ones coming.
Ok. This is a very dark movie that is not The Mobile Movie Mans cup of tea. It’s very dark and for me there are a lot of holes in the story. That being said it starts out interesting enough, taking place in the desert. The difficult stories of 4 women draw you in and just as you are getting really interested, they spit you right back out. I’m not sure exactly where it happens but somewhere down the road the movie just stops making sense. It’s as if the script changed midway through, or perhaps the writer got bored and opted out for a quick and confusing end to what could have been a good movie. It was really disappointing given the cast and if you are checking this out because you are a Meryl Streep fan, don’t bother, her character mostly exists by mention and her actual performance is limited to five minutes on screen with mostly irreverent dialogue. The movie ended up being very very depressing. The acting was great and as far as I know it was historically correct, but there are enough depressing movies out there as it is. I was looking forward to this because of the cast and the trailer that was completely misleading. It’s too bad. The Mobile Movie Man does it again taking a bullet for you guys. Your Welcome.
Good. This come to us via D-Ram from Katonah NY and usually the Mobile Movie Man is not a big western guy, but this is one of the grittiest, violent, and entertaining westerns I’ve ever seen. As far as westerns go I’ve like Tombstone, Young Guns, and 3:10 to Yuma. If you like any of those then this is a can’t miss for you. This movie is not afraid to cross that line in the sand and shock the audience and push them out of their comfort zone with a brutal scene in the 1st twenty minutes that will make you want to kill everyone around you. The plot is very simple. Good guy loses his family, takes vengeance, and must confront the bad guy. Short sweet and to the point. I don’t want to give away too much but I enjoyed this one, and it triggered some powerful emotions in me I think because I’m a family man, but either way solid on all fronts….and a perfect ending. On a side note – make sure you have the subtitles turned on at least for the beginning of the movie till they start speaking English. Thanks again for the solid recommendation D-Ram and please keep them coming.
